Just Me...

Hailing from beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, I've been pursuing my performance career from the get go.  Following my sisters to Gemini Dance Studio, in my baseball uniform, I became a quick tap study and as the infamous song says, "I'm watching sis go pitta-pat....I can do that!" And I did!

As the years went on, I became a staple within the Vancouver theater scene eventually leading up to my first professional show, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, at The Vancouver Playhouse.  All while balancing my studies at the University of British Columbia, where I earned my B.A. with a major in Theater and a minor in English Literature, I was busy filming movies, such as, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS and REEFER MADNESS, as well as, travelling across Canada performing in numerous theatriacal productions.

In 2006, I was adamant about making the leap to New York City and made it happen as I continued my training at CIRCLE IN THE SQUARE.   Quickly adjusting to the big city life, I got the ball rolling and made my NY Theater debut as one of the Aggies in the Actors' Fund Benefit of THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS.  I went on to perform in the National Tour of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, starring Topol and Harvey Fierstein, as well as making my Stratford Shakespeare Festival debut in CAMELOT and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.

Little did I know that JCS would be the vehicle to bring me back to NY to make my BROADWAY DEBUT!  As Dance Captain and Swing, I was honored to be a part of such a powerhouse TONY nominated production.

Throughout the years, I have also flexed my choreographic and teaching muscles on projects ranging from BROADWAY BARES, PHISH, BUSCH GARDENS, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, JUILLIARD, CIRCLE IN THE SQUARE, and BROADWAY CONNECTIONS.

In 2015, I decided to make the leap back to Canada to begin my M.F.A. is Acting with an emphasis on Teaching at York University. This rigorous training program opened a conversation on theatre that was compelling and enriching.  I performed  the role of Chebutykin in Chekhov's THREE SISTERS as  my thesis role.

I am also a certified YOGA instructor spreading yogi love and gratitude one downward dog at a time.

I'm so grateful that you took the time to check in on my website.  I look forward to working and collaborating with you soon,

Much love, Matthew
